Formally protesting......

Bringing Politics into a formal award show event itself seems like a bold statement. And that is exactly what celebrities as the Highly Suspect and Simon Helberg and wife did. They protested against Trump through bold statements, expressing themselves and their views. It does seem like a huge fashion statement, especially with 2 cases in the same event.

With that said, this pictures supports my trend idea of protesting through expressions. With celebrity influence, the trend would be a strong concept that'll remain throughout years to come.

The America of today......

Celebrities protest

With Trump as President of USA, 2017 has seen lots of various protest, from women marches to protests on the Muslim ban. This is a show that there is still faith in humanity.....that there's still morals in them that moves them to fight for their and other's rights. Who knows...maybe in the near future, the tense and hostile conflicts around the world, such as Syria, may slowly lessen...if people do start standing up and be determined for the right change...

With celebrities joining these protests, it shows that USA is united in their disagreement of the harsh rulings of Trump. And after all, celebrities have proven to be of huge influence to the public.

Thus it would be a good idea to forecast a trend that expresses the nation's protest and morals through the idea of superhero and villains, the concept of standing up for a change.

Fashion Textile collection
by Sebastien Courty

These sets of textiles is a piece of Art.
These textiles are like the representation of my trend forecast. Various portraits of humans, from young to old, decorate the surface of the textiles, portraying different emotions and expressions.

The artist plays with lines, graphic elements, silhouettes, negative space and more in order to develop a story and strong meaning.

These textiles would be a great asset to my trend.

Lines
Are a focus seen in all the garments and accessory.
Some are solid lines...and there are those that are faded......reminds me of the effect from painting with a brush.

Minimal colours: Black and White
Main And only colours in the collection, just like the colours of my trend, showing the nature of humans through morals

Dark and Gloomy background...Grey
My trend has the mood set in a gloomy and dull atmosphere, portraying the world in corruption

Space
Minimal elements

Volumes
My trend focuses on coats, and outerwear among other sets of garments. Coats are a protective layer worn over the interior. An act of shielding.....garment that is like one's own hero 'uniform'. A sign of understanding from the public and audience when one sees a 'hero costume'

- Graffiti/ mural showing graphic design elements featured in black and white.

Pop culture
prints
way of communication and expression.

Browsing through Trend Tablet allowed me to understand and experience what is happening around the world through the various art events that attracts the public.

I realize that most of the artworks and installments are meant to connect with the audience and their creativity.....which would be what I aim to do too through forecasting my trend.
I can connect with my customers through the morals and concepts that we share, which is to fight for a cause, being the hero in the garment, having the ease of expressing oneself and our views.

Other than that, there are elements of line works, silhouette use, graffiti and the minimal colour of black and white used in most of the installments. This tells me that it would be of high acceptance with the public and my customers.

The White Helmets; heroes of Syria

The White Helmets.
These are the heroes of Syria.
The Syrian Civil Defense workers are volunteers who have saved more than 40,000 lives in Syria, regardless of which side the injured is opposing or fighting. As the bomb rains down, the White Helmets would rush in to save those who are burried under the rubble.
In total, there are more than 2,000 of these volunteers who have felt the call of duty in such situations.

Even in the most helpless of situations, lives can still be saved.

Who will save Syria

Looking at all these images evokes the feelings of sadness and helplessness.
Destruction and tears are what I see through all these pictures....will the world ever become their hero?

Syria in destruction

The Modern Face of Syria: Imranovi's art of war -

“The new Syria has only one face to show to the world.”

This is an example of what's happening in the world...more specifically, Syria. I believe they need their own heroes...as the world "does not have enough to offer"....(sarcasm)

Why do people idolize superheroes....but they can't put themselves to be one?

Do they need the push....to go over the line...in order to be that hero?

Minimal portrayal

These are images which I found. All of them features superheroes in a minimalist illustrations of black and white. The black silhouettes are who they were before and the white figure are who they are now, as a superhero.

I think that all these images are strong in stating the differences of their lives then and now. In my past blog, I've touched on the trend I might be forecasting, being the line separating a superhero and a villain. They may be humans and in a point of time, they may have had an incident which is the turning point of their life, resulting them to pursue either a dark or brighter path.

I think that these images would be good as prints or silhouettes. For prints, The garment could be a minimal white or black but with contrasting prints of forms that are these superheroes/villains.... It may portray that the wearer itself has the choice of choosing one of these paths....the good or the bad. Everyone of us has these as a part of us...but we are at times afraid to show it...afraid that we may be judged...so, I think that having these as prints are like expressions as to show what makes us human...it is a natural and raw idea that people are afraid of accepting.

Other than prints, they could also be the silhouette of garments. As seen in the images, the whites are constantly shown as huge and hulking figures, showing that the superheroes have chosen the light of the situations....with that said, I think these forms of garments can follow the silhouettes as seen...to show that they've accepted the lighter path... that they too can be superheroes.
What they wear outside, is who they are inside.
